How do I know that I need help?
Experiencing one or more of the following feelings or behaviors can be warning signs of a problem:
Eating or sleeping too much or too little
Withdrawing from people and usual activities
Having low energy or enthusiasm
Feeling numb or like nothing matters
Having unexplained aches and pains
Feeling helpless or hopeless
Smoking or drinking more than usual, or using drugs
Feeling unusually confused, forgetful, on edge, angry, upset, worried, or scared
Yelling or fighting with family and friends
Experiencing severe mood swings that cause problems in relationships
Hearing voices or believing people are out to harm you
Thinking of harming yourself or others
Inability to perform daily tasks like taking care of yourself or your children
Inability to motivate yourself to attend work or school

What if I don’t have any behavioral health issues but just want to talk with someone about my day-to-day life challenges?
Even if there is no obvious sign of a problem, many people find therapy helps them improve their communication and coping skills, relationships, work productivity and sense of well-being. For example, therapy can help heal relationships with family members and/or friends; help you become a better parent; help you realize your potential and better manage daily stresses so that they don’t interfere with your life; and help end destructive behaviors such as smoking and/or drinking. Many people seek therapy to address a specific episode like a death in their family.
What is expected of me?
Commitment. Therapy requires a commitment of time, a willingness to keep your appointments, honesty in relaying feelings and issues, and a determination to work through those issues.
