Our incredible Waverunners crossed the finish line at the 2024 NYC Marathon, each mile representing strides toward hope, healing, and healthcare for families in need. Thanks to the dedication of our runners and the unwavering support from our community, we reached our fundraising goals—empowering The Floating Hospital to continue providing vital services to New York City’s most vulnerable families.
Crossing the finish line: Karen Solano
When Karen Solano arrived in the U.S. from Mexico in 2017, she was stepping into a new chapter of resilience, determination, and hope. Six years of family separation prepared her for the long marathon journey, and on race day, she proved her strength by crossing the finish line and surpassing her fundraising goal!
Since her arrival, Karen has made New York her home, finding community and purpose through running. Now a senior outreach associate at The Floating Hospital, she channels her passion for sociology and urban studies into building a healthier and more connected community.
Karen’s incredible achievement is a testament to the impact of our supporters, who have helped empower her to make a lasting difference for families in need across New York City. Thank you for being part of her journey to the finish line and beyond.
